Who is EFC
Originally founded in 1927 as the Edmonton and Northern Alberta Aero Club, the clubs’ first president was Canadian World War I flying ace, Wilfrid R. “Wop” May. At the time, the purpose of the club was to promote aviation and to provide flight training. Today, the Edmonton Flying Club is a member-owned organization that operates an advanced fleet of aircraft and provides flight training at all levels from recreational to Commercial Multi Instrument rated, career ready pilots.
EFC’s vision is to provide pilots for the increasing demand of the aviation industry.
Our mission is to create and educate aviators with the foundation required for safe and successful roles in both private and commercial aviation.
What We Do
For over 90 years, the Edmonton Flying Club has a history of training some of the world’s finest aviators. EFC has several programs in place to assist people in learning more about flight training. Our objective is to inspire the next generation into challenging and rewarding careers in aviation all while providing a safe school/club for learning, fun and training.

Annual Wings / Graduation Banquet
The Annual Wings Banquet honoring the previous years graduates of all ratings and licenses is held at the EFC hangar on a Saturday in late May or early June every year.
The event goes as follows; 5 –6 pm cocktails, Dinner at 6 pm, 7 pm guest speaker followed by the Wings ceremony and awards. We typically have the photo booth up and running as well as a few of the club’s aircraft on display in the hangar that you can be shown to family and friends.
Graduates dinners are free, as our congratulations to each of them. The event also includes a silent auction which helps to pay for the event. For the auction, we need your help! Our members have always been very generous and helpful with our silent auction and we are hopeful for another successful year. We are looking for experiences, gift baskets, aviation type items, or anything that you can think of that would be a good addition to our auction.
