Fine Print

  • All prices are subject to G.S.T. using the Transport Canada minimum requirements for each licence rating or permit.
  • Flight Times are based on the use of the C172S (Glass); except multi-engine time (twin).
  • These prices are effective as of March 1, 2023. Prices are subject to change without notice.
  • To help students better prepare for the expenses of flight training, EFC has created a document that outlines the averages for students to complete each of the licence ratings or permits.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year the Edmonton Flying Club prides itself in being able to offer at least $5,000 to students who complete their training at the club.

The following scholarships are available:

Jack and Dorothy Melling Private and Commercial Pilot License Scholarship

Each year the Edmonton Flying Club prides itself in being able to offer at least $5,000 to students who have achieved their ppl or cpl licnses with an excellent result and are in overall good standing as a future professional pilot who will make us all proud as an EFC alumni!

Every year we rank the top private pilots. We combine the scores of both the private flight test and the private written examination. We do the same for the commercial students. From these scores, along with considering their overall attitude and goals, we determine the 3 highest achieving students and reward them with the funds accordingly.

Other Scholarships

From time to time the Club will also issue scholarships on a one time basis. This occurs if there is room in the budget at the end of the year. These scholarships are given to students who demonstrate a financial need, as we realize that flying is an expensive venture and we wish to see everybody pursue their dream of flying.

George Reid Scholarship

This scholarship has been created in honor of George Reid who was an EFC member for over 80 years! George was an all around amazing person. Someone who was always willing to help, especially with anything flying related and always with the best attitude. This scholarship is about #espiritdecorps and we look forward to awarding future members who show this same kindness and positivity during their training for years to come! But to keep this scholarship going we need to help the fund grow! For information on how to donate contact Sophia at [email protected].

David Owen Scholarship

We have exciting news! There is a new scholarship coming to the Edmonton Flying Club! This scholarship is in memory of EFC past member David Owen. David had a love of flying from a very early age and his family are creating this scholarship to keep his memory that much more alive!

For the scholarship, we are asking students, who wish to apply to write a 1 page letter on why you have a love of aviation, and why you want to be a pilot. We love creativity so be as creative as you want! There are 3 pilots, who were great friends of David’s, who will review the applications and decide on who receives the award.

Requirements to apply for the $3500 annual scholarship:

1. Must have completed your Private Pilot’s Licence

2. Be a student at the Edmonton Flying Club working on your Commercial License

3. Have a love of aviation

4. Deadline for this year is May 31st 2023!

Applications should be sent to [email protected]. Good Luck!!
